Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot and critically-wounded a male victim in an attempted Center City robbery early Tuesday.

According to CBSPhilly, the 38-year-old victim, who hasn’t been identified, was walking with a friend on the 1500 block of Locust Street at around 1 a.m. when the pair was approached by a masked suspect who attempted to rob them.

Police told CBSPhilly the victim started to run and was shot by the gunman in the right arm causing critical injury.

He was rushed to Hahnemann Hospital where he remains in critical condition, CBSPhilly said.

Police added that “a large caliber shell casing” was found near the scene, which gives reason to believe the weapon was of a large caliber explaining the critical nature of the gunshot wound and massive amount of blood.

The search for the gunman is still underway. Read more at CBSPhilly.
