Being aware of proper casino etiquette can make the gaming experience more pleasurable both for you and for others. It’s all about being relaxed, aware, and respectful. Veteran table players agree that the following basics are key to acting like – and looking like – a true gamer.
Know the rules
Sitting down at a table game without knowing how the game is played – whether it’s blackjack, roulette, poker, or baccarat – can make play tedious for everyone. Before you sit down, wait for a break in the game to find the perfect time to join in. If you don’t know exactly how to play, be upfront to the dealer and let them guide you on the basics. Casinos thrive on customer service so never be hesitant to ask a dealer or management behind the tables for assistance. You also have the option to observe the table from behind until you are ready to join in.
Never hand money to the dealer
Most casinos today are designed with overhead security cameras, for your safety, and can see the money you lay down – so you must always put your cash on the table, not in the dealer’s hand. And when joining a game, wait until the current hand is finished before you lay your money down.
Ditch the electronics
Photos and videos of casino machines and tables is forbidden by most gaming venues, so it’s best to leave smartphones and cameras at home or in your room.

Talking
