25 suspects charged in Wildwood 'Cold Front' narcotics operation

Investigation precipitated by shooting incident

Prosecutors have announced charges against 25 suspects in a sweeping narcotics investigation spurred by a recent shooting in Wildwood.

According to the Cape May County District Attorney's Office, "Operation Cold Front" involved 12 court-authorized search warrants across Wildwood and Cape May. Law enforcement officials and SWAT teams from the town, county and state level all participated in the crackdown.

Authorities first began investigating after a shooting was reported on June 17 at an apartment on 200 East Block of Youngs Avenue in Wildwood. Three suspects – Michael Morales, Xavier Goicohia and William Sierra — were allegedly involved in firing shots into the apartment, although no one was injured.

A review of the crime scene at the apartment prompted a wider crackdown that prosecutors say netted more than 1,800 bags of heroin with a street value in excess of $18,000 dollars. Approximately 1.5 ounces of cocaine with a street value of $4,200 were also seized along with $54,000 in cash and four firearms.
