Annual Strawberry Festival returns to Peddler's Village

Don't miss the strawberry pie eating contest

During the Strawberry Festival at Peddler’s Village, pie-eating contestants forget everything their parents taught them about table manners. Other berry delights at the two-day springtime event include live entertainment, children’s activities and, of course, baked goods and strawberries aplenty.

If strawberry shortcake, chocolate-covered strawberries and strawberry cupcakes sound good to you, then you won't want to miss the 38th Annual Strawberry Festival at Peddler's Village.

Shops will be selling strawberry treats, local artisans will display unique goods, and family-friendly activities will be scheduled throughout the two-day festival beginning on Saturday, May 21.

While live music, juggling and arts & crafts will take place daily, the highlight of the festival is the strawberry pie eating contest. At 3 p.m. on both days, head to the Main Green to cheer on contestants.

Before and after watching competitive eating, however, attendees should indulge in Peddler's Village treats.

The Lucky Cupcake Company's Village Bakery, which was featured on the Food Network’s "Cupcake Wars," will have an outdoor booth stocked with desserts. Find strawberry shortcakes, strawberry crumb pies, strawberry rhubarb pies, strawberry cheesecakes, strawberry cupcakes and chocolate strawberry bombs.

The Cock ‘n Bull Restaurant booth will serve crispy strawberry fritters, Skip's Candy Corner will offer freshly dipped chocolate strawberries, and Fromage Deux, a new shop at Peddler’s Village, will serve strawberry crepes.

Other booths and tents will offer fresh strawberries, Pennsylvania Dutch strawberry butters, a build-your-own-strawberry-shortcake station and fruit smoothies.

Admission and parking are free, and the festival will be held rain or shine.
