Police: ATM explodes in Hunting Park

Police are investigating an explosion of an ATM in Hunting Park Tuesday night, 6ABC reports.

The blast is the second time in recent weeks an ATM has been targeted in the city, with the most recent explosion being even stronger than the first.

The ATM exploded just before 9:30 p.m. outside a neighborhood store at 6th and Luzerne streets.

Police said surveillance videos from nearby businesses show two people approaching the ATM and then fleeing before the explosion. Explosive residue was found on the ATM.

While debris reportedly flew some 50 to 100 feet, it appears no money came out of the machine. Authorities do not believe the safe was damaged, and no injuries were reported.

The first explosion occurred on July 9 on the 3900 block of N. Ninth St.

It is unclear whether the incidents are linked.
