Barricade situation left shoppers stuck in Northeast Philly Acme

Shoppers at a Northeast Philadelphia supermarket were locked in the store while authorities dealt with a barricaded man in a nearby home.

According to multiple reports, the Acme store at Academy and Red Lion roads was on lockdown. Other stores in the strip center also refused to allow shoppers in or out.

6ABC reports the standoff began around 5:30 p.m. Monday on the 3200 block of Red Lion Road, when police responded to a report of a man with a gun. The area has been cordoned off, and negotiators called to the scene.

Around 7:30 p.m., police were able to take the man into custody

No injuries were reported.
