The fifth annual Cinedelphia Film Festival will kick off on Thursday, April 13. Presented by the Philadelphia Mausoleum of Contemporary Art (PhilaMOCA), the alternative film fest features a mix of uncommon and unique movie picks.
Here's a quick look at some of the more intriguing films at this year's Cinedelphia.
"Dark Night" – The film makes a critique on American gun culture. Filmmaker Tim Sutton will be in attendance. He loosely based "Dark Night" on the 2012 Aurora, Colorado, shooting.
"The Lure" – It's a horror-musical from Poland that tells the story of two mermaids who have to adjust to life on land.
"Becoming Bond" – The life of one-time James Bond actor George Lazenby is told in a unique documentary-narrative hybrid. It was included in the 2017 SXSW Film Festival.
"The Transfiguration" – An official selection at the Cannes Film Festival, "The Transfiguration" follows troubled teen Milo, who hides behind his fascination with vampires. The thriller is set in NYC.
"How to Build a Time Machine" – Filmmaker Jay Cheel’s documentary focuses on two men with a shared interest in time travel.
Individual tickets for each film are $10-$15 per person. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the door (starting 30 minutes before each screening).
All-access passes are also available for $144, which gives access to every film in the festival.
