PATCO services should return to normal for Thursday evening's commute, according to a spokesman for the transit agency.
The derailment of a contractor's rail car meant delays in both directions during the morning commute, with cars running every 15 to 20 minutes.
Regular service began to return at around 2 p.m. and a complete transition was planned by 2:45 p.m., said spokesman Mike Williams.
There were no injuries or casualties in the derailment, which occurred near Lindenwold, New Jersey.
A crane had to come in to remove the derailed equipment and one of two lines had to shut down while the work was done.
