Update June 21 at 11:09 a.m.: There are no more spots available for the construction-themed carnival. The Big Dig is completely full.

A family-friendly construction-themed carnival will take place in Ardmore on Saturday, June 24. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and run until noon.

During the day, attendees will get to tour a live construction site and get up close to construction equipment like dump trucks and excavators.

The first stop, however, will be pucciManuli (35 Cricket Ave.), where the first 300 kids will receive a complimentary hard hat and a swag bag. Attendees can also register for giveaways at the shop.

Big-ticket prizes being given away include a family four-pack of tickets to Diggerland, a $100 gift certificate to LuLu's Casita, a $100 gift certificate to pucciManuli, construction gear from Harkins Builders and a $100 gift certificate to McCloskey's.

Then, after touring the construction site, kids can play at one of the themed activity stations.

• See and touch big trucks and heavy machinery up close and meet the equipment operators
• Dig holes and operate small toy construction vehicles
• Test construction skills by building with toothpicks, marshmallows, cardboard bricks and boxes
• Decorate dump truck cookies
• Fill a small construction lunchbox with snacks for lunch

All attendees will need to wear closed-toe shoes and all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. In the event of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, June 25.

The event is free to attend, but an RSVP is required.
