Driver injured after car crashes, catches fire in Roxborough

A man was critically injured after his car crashed and caught fire Tuesday morning in Roxborough, 6ABC reports.

The crash occurred after 4 a.m. on Shawmont Avenue near Nixon Street.

Police said the driver lost control and struck a utility pole. The crash took down electrified wires, which then set the car on fire, police said.

The driver, who suffered third-degree burns and smoke inhalation, was taken to Temple University in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
