Eagles officially rule out Jason Peters vs Cowboys Sunday night

Jason Peters' inability to play Sunday night is a huge loss for the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles officially ruled out left tackle Jason Peters for Sunday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys. He was originally listed as questionable.

In Peters' absence, Lane Johnson will move over to Peters' left tackle spot from right tackle, and Dennis Kelly will start at right tackle. The Eagles' offensive line will look like this:

 LTLG RG RT
Lane JohnsonAllen Barbre Jason Kelce Matt Tobin Dennis Kelly

After Peters was hurt in the Eagles' loss to the Panthers, Matt Tobin moved over from right guard to left tackle, Johnson stayed at right tackle, and Kelly filled in at right guard. The Eagles opted to move Johnson over from right tackle this time around because they wanted to maintain continuity along the interior of their line.

When the Eagles selected Johnson fourth overall in the 2013 draft, they did so with the intention of him being the "RTOTP/LTOTF" (right tackle of the present / left tackle of the future). Sunday night will be Johnson's first start at left tackle, and a glimpse of what the Eagles' line will look like whenever Peters, who turns 34 in January, decides to call it a career.

Johnson should get a heavy dose of Cowboys DE Greg Hardy, who has come under heavy fire since Friday after pictures emerged via Deadspin of injuries sustained by Hardy's ex-girlfriend, allegedly at the hand of Hardy.
