Eagles signed a linebacker

In lesser news on a day in which the Philadelphia Eagles traded Allen Barbre and released former first round pick Marcus Smith, they also added linebacker Steven Daniels.

Earlier this offseason, the Eagles claimed Daniels off of waivers from the Washington Redskins, who was a seventh-round pick of theirs in 2016. The Eagles showed interest in Daniels during the pre-draft process last offseason, bringing him in for a visit to the NovaCare Complex.

In 2013, Daniels finished third on Boston College's defense with 88 tackles. In 2014, he was second with 72 tackles. And in 2015, he led BC's defense with 82 tackles. He did not appear in any games for the Redskins a season ago.

Daniels will not wow anyone with his measurables, as he is only 5'11, and he ran a 4.86 40 at the NFL Combine. Daniels' spider chart from the 2016 Combine:
