Female DJs own the night at DISCWOMAN

DJ collective Factory Girls hosts a night of female-driven music

What happens when you put a baker's dozen female DJs in one night club? We don't know just yet, but we can't wait to find out at DISCWOMAN, a showcase of female DJs playing electronic music.

The whole show is run by Factory Girls, a collective of female DJs working to spotlight their sisters in music. DISCWOMAN began as a New York City festival but its stretching its legs and coming to Philly on Friday, Jan. 23.

It gets better: many of the event's DJs are Philadelphia-based, and a portion of the bar proceeds go to Girls Rock Philly, a volunteer-based mentoring program that inspires girls through music education.

The ladies spinning the jams for the night include Gun$ Garcia, Ultraviolet, Shuga ShayPrecolumbian, K|Rex, Nolita Selector, Yolo Ono, Dentana, Magglezzz, ghostpvnch, Diamond Girl, Haram, and Dischetto.

All this talent will be spread over three floors at Voyeur Nightclub, and Pabst Blue Ribbon will be pouring free from 9-11 p.m.
