Former Eagles fullback Kevin Turner passes away after battling ALS

After a six-year battle with ALS, Kevin Turner passed away Thursday morning at the age of 46 at his home in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Here is what his father Raymond wrote on the Kevin Turner Foundation website:

"Myra and I lost a great son today. He will be missed so much. Thanks to everyone so very much for your support and prayers during this journey. He was ready to go to Heaven, excited he said, Love y'all and God Bless."

Turner, who played his college football at the University of Alabama, suited up for the Eagles from 1995 to 1999. Many of his former Philadelphia teammates paid tribute to Turner on Twitter after hearing the news, along with others:

Turner certainly seemed to be a very well-liked teammate and person. Rest in peace.
