Montgomery County officials have confirmed a total of four cases of the Zika virus in the county, NBC10 reported.
The updated count was confirmed at a Board of Commissioners meeting Thursday and all cases were contracted outside of the United States.
The county is providing free Zika Prevention Kits and residents are encouraged to report standing water on private property that could serve as a breeding grounds for mosquitoes who might carry the disease.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has 74 confirmed cases with 97 pending test results as of Monday. It also has an extensive Zika Response Plan outlined on its website.
The Zika virus, which exploded in Brazil last year, is especially dangerous to pregnant women, increasing their risk of having babies with birth defects.
Pennsylvania is far from the only state to be affected by the disease. In mid-July, New Jersey confirmed 12 cases of Zika along with one case of the West Nile virus.
After locally transmitted cases of the virus were reported in Florida, health officials also issued a travel warning for parts of Miami in early August.
