Guest dies after being struck by roller coaster at Cedar Point

A man has died after being struck by a roller coaster at the Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio Thursday afternoon. 

The park confirmed the death in a Facebook post. According to the post, the guest entered a restricted, fenced-off area near the Raptor roller coaster around 5 p.m.

The patron passed away after being struck by the ride. Authorities are still investigating the incident. 

The identity of the guest is not known at this time. According to the park's website, the Raptor roller coaster reaches speeds up to 57 mph.

Cedar Point is owned by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, which also owns Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
