Kevin Bacon calls for more male nudity in film

Philly-born actor teams up with Mashable to make point about gender equality

Kevin Bacon wants male actors to show more of their private parts in movies and television.

The Philadelphia-born actor teamed up with Mashable to create a video published on Youtube Thursday.

In the video, Bacon takes a light-hearted, silly tone to address "gratuitous female nudity" and the lack of actresses' male counterparts showing the same amount of skin.

Bacon cites sex scenes in the HBO show "Game of Thrones" and the movie "50 Shades of Grey" that do not show the male actors' more sensitive areas.

"We want to be naked," Bacon says in the video. He also jokingly claims he was naked for all of "Frost/Nixon," saying pants were CGI'd onto his legs.

The hashtag #FreeTheBacon, which is used in the video in an attempt to raise awareness about the issue on social media, has already gotten a plethora of responses on Twitter.

Bacon stars alongside Johnny Depp in the upcoming film "Black Mass" about the infamous Boston mobster Whitey Bulger, however there's no word on whether he'll be nude in it.
