Koresh Dance Company, a staple of Philly's performing arts scene, celebrates a big birthday this year as it turns 25 years old. To toast its "silver" anniversary, the company will launch a new world premiere performance Thursday, March 10, and Friday, March 11, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre

The evening-length premiere includes "23: Deconstructing Mozart," a collaboration with DJ Spooky and co-produced by Apple Juice Kid. Described by Koresh as "an exploration of solitude and community set against the formal act of counting and numbering," the work plays with Mozart's "Piano Concerto No. 23" to create a new sound.

Koresh will also host "Koresh Kouture Silver: A 25th Anniversary Silent Auction and Gala" at Suzanne Roberts Saturday, March 12. The evening will include displays from the designers of Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, Naveda Couture and 611, who will dress the company's dancers. The silent auction features performing arts tickets, trips to Brooklyn and Miami and more, all benefiting Koresh.
