Malcolm Jenkins acknowledges Saints trade rumors

Before the official start to the new league year back in the beginning of March, the Eagles were heavily rumored to be interested in trading for New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who was instead eventually dealt to the New England Patriots.

Soon after, a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk surfaced that Malcolm Jenkins was offered up in trade discussions with the Saints. The validity of that report was hotly debated, but Jenkins confirmed that his name was involved, and he even added that the Saints had been inquiring about him long before March.

"I've been in the game long enough to know that there's no such thing as an irreplaceable player, just depending on what that price tag is," said Jenkins to reporters at the NovaCare Complex on Monday. "I know the Saints have been active in trying to get me back in that building. That's before those trade rumors, probably during the season. The fact that conversations are being had surrounding me doesn't bother me because I understand the business.

"Howie and I talked and he (said) that he wanted me to be a part of what we're doing here. He wants me to be an Eagle. They need the leadership and what I bring to the field, and I understand everything, so I'm good."

So Malcolm Jenkins was indeed involved in trade discussions, but he's not mad. And thus concludes that whole thing.
