Man in critical condition after shooting during attempted robbery

Victim shot in stomach during robbery in Wissinoming

Philadelphia police are investigating after a man was shot and critically wounded during an attempted robbery in Northeast Philadelphia Saturday night.

Authorities say the victim, a 28-year-old man, was approached by two men on Cheltenham Avenue near Torresdale around 9:40 p.m, NBC10 reports. The two suspects tried to rob him before one of them opened fire, striking the victim in the stomach and fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he remained in critical condition on Sunday.

No arrests have been made, but officers were able to recover a weapon at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
