Man working in road ditch struck, killed by minivan in West Philly

A man was killed Thursday night when a minivan drove into a hole where he was doing plumbing work in West Philadelphia, NBC10 reports.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. at 63rd and Arch streets.

Police say the 27-year-old was working in a 4-foot-deep hole when the driver of a minivan went through orange safety cones and caution tape before landing on top of him.

The worker was pronounced dead.

It is not yet known whether charges will be filed against the driver.

The incident remains under investigation.
