Viral video shows mice in buns at Delaware Burger King

Health inspectors shut down Wilmington location for mouse droppings, other violations

Be prepared to lose your appetite.

A video posted to Facebook on Thursday by Shantel Johnson shows mice running through a bag of burger buns at a Burger King in Wilmington, Delaware. The video has since been viewed more than 600,000 times and shared by more than 20,000 users.

Yuck:

The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services said it responded to the location the day after the video was posted and discovered "gross unsanitary conditions."

Inspectors found mouse droppings on and inside hamburger buns and chicken sandwich rolls, as well as throughout the restaurant. They also discovered plastic that appeared to have been chewed through. The department ordered the location to close. After inspecting it again Monday, the department allowed it to reopen, as there was no mouse poop in the restaurant and the building had been sanitized.

Burger King also didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. The company told CBS3 that "Food safety and hygiene is always a top priority for us." The company also told the news station they working with the independent franchisee, who runs the location, to address the rodent issues.

Apologies for ruining your lunch.
