The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners have declared a "Code Blue" Weather Emergency at the urging of the county's Department of Public Safety after reviewing forecasts from the National Weather Service.

The Code Blue declaration is made in Montgomery County when "winter conditions pose a serious threat of harm or death to individuals without shelter," officials said in a news release.

Specifically, Code Blue goes into effect when the combination of air temperature and wind chill is expected to be 20 degrees or less.

The Code Blue Declaration will remain in effect from 9:00 p.m. Sunday night, January 3, until 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6.

General cold weather information is available at the website of the Montgomery County Health Department.
