Nerlens Noel: 'None of the players drafted ahead of me are doing so much better'

Nerlens Noel shot a video for Barstool Sports titled “The Life,” where he took the host (Philly native Sophie Julia) on a tour of his home in South Philly and answered a bunch of questions. It’s a pretty funny interview that is worth passing along:

Some of the highlights:

•    Noel has a rock climbing wall and a 10.5-foot hoop right when you walk in the door. Here’s a quick thought: Wouldn’t you want, you know, a 10-foot rim?

•    Noel drinks just as many Shirley Temples as Joel Embiid. Why wouldn't he? They're delicious.

•    His favorite cheesesteak? Ishkabibble's on South Street, where he goes all the time.

•    Noel played quarterback in high school as a sophomore. It didn't sound like he was very good, but at least none of his passes would get batted down!

•    On if he thought he would go number one overall in the 2013 draft: “I thought it was likely. I was very depressed that night, but you know, looking back at it now, none of them [drafted before] are doing so much better than me.” More on this later.

•    Noel wears Uggs, just like Tom Brady. They do look very comfortable.

•    Embiid did meet Rihanna in a club at some point. Hard work pays off.

•    On if his DM’s were thirstier at Kentucky or Philly: “Oh, they’re way thirstier now.” Pretty obvious, considering now he's a millionaire.

As for Noel's claim about outperforming the players drafted ahead of him, Victor Oladipo is probably the only one that you can make an argument for over him two years later. Noel looks to be every bit of an All-NBA defensive player for years to come, but he’s only shooting 40 percent from the field so far this year. That obviously has to improve.
