New Jersey State Troopers's cars struck by lightning

One officer taken to the hospital for observation

Two New Jersey State Troopers were sitting in their respective patrol cars Tuesday when each was struck by lightning. 

According to police, the incident occurred around 2 p.m. on the Garden State Parkway at a construction site in Middle Township.

Neither officer was seriously injured. However, one officer was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for observation. 

According to 6 ABC, the lightning struck the vehicles due to a small cell storm moved over the area where the vehicles were parked.
