A new podcast will take a new look at the case featured in NPR's very popular "Serial."
"Serial" focused on the case of Adnan Syed, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of his girlfriend, high-school senior Hae Min Lee, in 1999. Syed claims he is innocent.
The new podcast, entitled "Undisclosed: The State v. Adnan Syed," will feature lawyers who have investigated the case, including Susan Simpson and Colin Miller. "Undisclosed" says it will take a different approach to the Baltimore case:
The remarkable success of the podcast "Serial", which brought to light the many questions that remained unresolved in this case, also left many questions unanswered. "Undisclosed" will examine and explore the case in greater detail, from an investigatory perspective instead of a narrative one.
The new podcast comes on the heels of Syed making his case for a new trial, and its first episode will be released on April 13. New episodes will come out every two weeks. "Undisclosed" is not affiliated with NPR. Instead, it is being sponsored by the Adnan Syed Legal Trust.
A second season of "Serial" is expected sometime in 2015, however, it will focus on a new story, which hasn't been announced yet. The podcast, which came from producers of NPR's "This American Life," broke iTunes records with more than 5 million downloads.
