N.J. man shot by police after allegedly stabbing his parents

Police shot a man in a New Jersey home Wednesday night after they found him allegedly stabbing his parents, CBSPhilly reports.

Mercer County police responded to a home in the 600 block of Nottinghill Lane in Hamilton Township after receiving calls from neighbors about a commotion.

When authorities arrived, they found the 36-year-old man on top of his 55-year-old father, whom he had allegedly stabbed repeatedly. He had allegedly already injured his mother, police said.

“The officers met the suspect, advised him several times to drop the knife while he was stabbing an individual. He did not drop the knife and the officers used force to prevent any further injury to the victim,” Hamilton Township Police Capt. James Stevens told CBSPhilly.

According to police, the man and his parents were transported to Capital Health Regional Trauma Center. The father is in critical condition.

There is no word on the condition of the suspect, who is in police custody.

The incident is under investigation.
