Off-duty Philadelphia officer arrested after hit-and-run crash in Northeast Philly

An off-duty Philadelphia police officer was arrested Saturday for suspicion of drunken driving after he allegedly crashed his truck into a parked vehicle and left the scene.

Ryan Laskowski, 27, an officer assigned to the 2nd police district in Northeast Philadelphia, was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 truck about 9:48 p.m. Saturday when it smashed into an unoccupied 2015 Nissan Rouge in the 600 block of Solly Avenue in Fox Chase, law enforcement officials said.

Laskowski allegedly left the scene of the crash, driving his damaged truck down Solly Avenue to the 8100 block of Halstead Street, then to the 600 block of Arthur Street, where he only stopped when the truck broke an axle, officials said.

Officers arriving to the scene allegedly found Laskowski sitting in the driver's seat of the disabled truck and exhibiting "blood shot eyes and slurred speech."

"He also had some difficulty standing as he exited his vehicle," according to a police statement released Tuesday.

Laskowski was immediately placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said

An investigation into the incident is underway, and Laskowski has been placed on administrative duty, pending the outcome, police said.
