Officer shoots man during traffic stop in Haddon Township

A Haddon Township police officer shot and wounded a man during a traffic stop Saturday morning, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

An investigation showed that the officer tried to identify the man in his 30s, who was not named during the stop around 9:41 a.m. The man then fled and crashed into a parked car.

A "brief struggle" ensued between the two. The officer, who also hasn't been named, shot the driver once in the "lower extremity." He was taken to Cooper Medical Center and has since been released and later arrested.

The officer has been placed on administrative leave, according to the prosecutor's office, as officials continue to investigate.
