Officials: Person struck, killed by Amtrak train in Delaware County

Northeast Corridor Trains, SEPTA lines temporarily halted during investigation

Amtrak officials confirmed that a person was fatally struck Friday by a Northeast Corridor train heading southbound to District of Columbia.

According to authorities, the victim was trespassing not far from the Chester Transportation Center Station around 10:00 a.m. when the accident occurred, NBC 10 reports.

Neither the identity nor gender of the victim has yet been released. Officials said no one on the train was injured.

SEPTA's Wilmington/Newark line was temporarily canceled and later experienced delays as Amtrak briefly interrupted Northeast Corridor Trains. Service interruption allowed police to conduct an investigation at the scene of the incident.
