Several displaced after gas explosion in Chestnut Hill

No injuries have been reported following the incident that occurred at around 3 a.m. Monday

Police and fire crews responded to a natural gas explosion at a Chestnut Hill apartment complex at around 3 a.m. Monday. 

CBS Philly and NBC 10 were reporting from the scene of the incident on Benezet Street, which is said to have displaced at least ten apartment residents and caused damage to the building, including ruptured windows.


PGW was at the scene working on the ruptured gas main. No one was hurt, Steve Lindsey of CBS Philly reported on Twitter. 

Some apartment occupants were able to return to their homes at around 4:30 a.m. while others were forced to find temporary housing until the situation is resolved.
