Philly doesn't get enough credit for its pizza scene. From unique spots like Pizza Brain, to several spots with delicious wood-fired pies, to the big slices at Lorenzo & Sons, there's plenty of cheesy goodness to go around.
However, if the only standard for filling your pizza craving is price, you might want to hop in the car and head about two hours west -- that is, at least according to a new analysis from the consumer financial services company Bankrate.
Citing information from the The Council for Community and Economic Research, Bankrate says that the cheapest pies in the country are in the greater York-Hanover metropolitan area in South Central Pennsylvania, with an average price of $6.99.
Right behind the Pennsylvania town on the list are Dover and Wilmington in Delaware, with average prices of $7.49 per pie each.
It should be noted that this fun little list from Bankrate doesn't specify a lot of important details about the "average pie," such as how many slices per pie, how big each pie is and whether the average price includes any toppings.
Yet if your heart is now set on travelling to the York-Hanover area to satisfy your cheap pizza quest, a quick google search finds that you can snag a six-slice square pie for $7 at DiCarlo's Pizza.
Or, you can always get a $5 pie at a Little Caesars location in Philly. But you're probably better off paying the extra few bucks somewhere else.
