Philadelphia joins cities across country in 'I Can't Keep Quiet Day'

A few dozen people in Philadelphia participated in a peaceful flash mob Saturday as part of an event happening in cities across the country.

Members of the Philadelphia United for Progress (Philly Up), Women's March Pennsylvania, Philly Women Rally, Voices Rising Philly, Sister Cities Girlchoir were set to gather at the the Free Library of Philadelphia at 1 p.m. to sing "I Can't Keep Quiet" in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, according to a news release.

The group, which consisted of more than 100 according to CBSPhilly, also stopped to perform at Dilworth Park on Saturday.

The original song, "Quiet" by an artist called MILCKbecame popular during the Women's March on Washington in January.

The Los Angeles-based artist helped organized "I Can't Keep Quiet Day" and encouraged groups to use the hashtag, "#icantkeepquiet" Saturday.

“So many things are going on in the world today that people are unhappy about and especially in our own country that we can’t keep quiet any longer,” Beth Finn, one of the organizers, told CBSPhilly Saturday.

Groups gathered in cities like Buffalo, Camden, Portland, San Francisco, Virginia Beach and more.
