Philadelphia police issue Halloween warning after string of South Philly robberies

Residents urged to be vigilant of surroundings on Halloween

Philadelphia police have issued a warning to residents in parts of South Philadelphia following a string of recent robberies, with an emphasis on awareness for Halloween.

Third District Captain Frank Millo said residents east of Broad Street, west of 7th Street and between Washington and Shunk streets should be on alert following 8 robberies in the last week, CBS 3 reports.

The crimes in question include purse snatchings, phone thefts and commercial robberies. Millo said weapons were flashed in several of the robberies, but no one was hurt and no suspects have been identified.

The crime alert is intended to ensure that residents of the neighborhood, particularly those with children, remain vigilant while out trick-or-treating Saturday night.
