The Federal Detention Center in downtown Philadelphia was closed Wednesday due to a chicken pox outbreak among inmates, NBC10 reports.

In order to help control the outbreak, the prison on Arch Street will remain closed Wednesday.

Inmates have been made aware of the outbreak, according to a recorded message for the prison.

It was not immediately clear whether the Detention Center would reopen Thursday.
