The 21-plus crowd is invited to take part in the Brew Mile challenge on Oct. 1. Registration is currently open for those interested in drinking four beers and running a mile -- at a real event and not just on a dare.

The race will take place outside Xfinity Live!, beginning at 11 a.m. Day-of check-in begins at 10 a.m.

Four light beers will be given to participants before the race, then after the race, finishers receive two more (celebratory) beers.

Registration, currently $40, increases on Aug. 25 at midnight.

While the event is on the silly side, the race raises awareness and funds for a more serious issue. Beer Fit, the Brew Mile organizers, use the race as a fundraiser for Water.org
