PHS Pop-up celebrates Belgian Independence Day

To celebrate Belgian Independence Day -- July 21, 1831, when Belgium separated from The Netherlands -- Belgian brewery Duvel Moortgat will host an outdoor party at the South Street PHS Pop-up Sunday, July 19. From noon to 10 p.m., the beer garden will be flowing with both Duvel and Ommegang drafts.

The Belgian and Belgian-style brews that will be on tap include Hennepin, Rare Vos, Gnomegang, La Chouffe, Houblon Chouffe, Liefmans Fruitesse, Fleur de Houblon, Liefmans Goudenband and Duvel Single. Plus, Ommegang Independence Day, a beer brewed specially for the occasion, will be available. 

In addition to the beer, six-piece jazz band Blackbird Society Orchestra will perform from noon to 2 p.m. and the party sponsors will provide lawn games like giant Jenga and corn hole.
