Police interrupt robbery, shooting in North Philly

A man was critically injured in a robbery and shooting early Monday morning in North Philadelphia, CBSPhilly reports.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. near Broad Street and Hunting Park Avenue in Hunting Park.

Police say officers on patrol interrupted an altercation in which one man pulled out a gun and shot another. 

"During the course of the robbery, the shooter fired three shots, striking one of three robbery victims in the wrist," Chief Inspector Scott Small told CBSPhilly. "It struck an artery. He lost a lot of blood."

According to police, officers were able to chase down the shooter and arrest him. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The incident remains under investigation.
