A female English teacher at Upper Dublin High School was placed on administrative leave on Tuesday as township police investigate a complaint of inappropriate contact with a current student.

In an email sent to parents at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Schools Superintendent Deborah S. Wheeler said that the district would not be sharing any additional information about the case because it is an active police investigation.

The school district refused further comment on Wednesday morning, saying Wheeler's email was the only comment it would have at this time.

Upper Dublin police on Wednesday morning confirmed the investigation but said they couldn't provide additional information at this time.

"Please let me assure you that the District’s priority is to protect the health and well-being of all students and to ensure that the school environment is safe and conducive to learning," Wheeler wrote to parents. "The District has and will continue to be vigilant about ensuring that any behavior between teachers/staff member and students that moves beyond a professional relationship will not be tolerated."
