A man is in custody and has been charged in the sexual assault of a woman behind a shopping center in Northeast Philadelphia Monday evening, according to authorities.

Police said Tuesday that Felix Ramos, 44, who lives a stone's throw away from where the attack took place, has been arrested.

Officers responded to the report of a rape in progress in the woods behind the shopping center on the 9400 block of State Road around 6 p.m.

A 29-year-old woman told police she had been sexually assaulted.

Ramos, whose home address is on James Street just behind the shopping center, was stopped by officers in a nearby driveway after matching the description of the suspect, police said.

He has been charged with attempted rape, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, aggravated indecent assault and related charges.
