Police: Postal worker fatally struck by vehicle in Southwest Philly

Philadelphia police are investigating after a USPS worker was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday night in Southwest Philadelphia. 

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 8:05 p.m. on the 7300 block of Lindbergh Boulevard, 6 ABC reports. 

The 64-year-old victim, who has not been identified, was crossing the street outside the crosswalk when he was struck by a white 2001 Mitsubishi. The driver of the vehicle was an 18-year-old male. 

A witness to the accident, a 47-year-old woman in a 2005 white Kia Sorento, swerved to avoid the victim and crashed into the rear of the Mitsubishi. Neither she nor the 18-year-old driver was injured. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. 

An investigation by the Philadelphia AID is ongoing.
