Police investigating report of baby thrown from bridge onto freight train

Surveillance footage shows two people at bridge, as reported by witnesses

A Philadelphia Police investigation is underway following a report of a baby thrown from a bridge above railroad tracks near 68th and Kingsessing Streets on Friday afternoon.

According to FOX 29, a witness told police that a man and a women threw a child down from the bridge onto a moving CSX freight train late on Friday afternoon.

Police later reviewed and released surveillance footage backing up the witness's claim that two people were standing up by the bridge holding what appeared to be a baby. This was also confirmed by the engineer of the CSX freight train, who reported seeing two people on the bridge when the train passed under it.

A helicopter and K-9 were brought in to search the track together with CSX workers, uniformed police and counter terrorism officers. Passing trains were also stopped and searched, but nothing turned up.

Lieutenant John Walker of Southwest Detectives said that the people in the video are described as young, between 17 and 20 years old, and anyone with information should contact police.
