Police: Two teens face charges in fatal shooting of Germantown boy

Authorities say 15-year-old turned himself in to police

Philadelphia police have announced charges against two teenage boys who allegedly shot another 13-year-old boy to death Wednesday night in Germantown.

According to authorities, a 15-year-old who allegedly pulled the trigger turned himself in Thursday morning, accompanied by his grandmother, and faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

A 17-year-old who allegedly loaded the weapon additionally faces a charge of recklessly endangering another person, 6ABC reports.

The shooting occurred late Wednesday afternoon on the unit block of E. Walnut Lane. The victim was transported to Einstein Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head and was later pronounced dead.

According to 6ABC, a source identified the victim as Chris Mackey. The group of teens reportedly found the gun inside an abandoned home and it later discharged. Police are still attempting to trace the ownership of the firearm.

A vigil for Mackey, organized by Philadelphia Ceasefire, was held Thursday afternoon.
