Reports: Driver injures police officer in South Philly hit-and-run

A Philadelphia police officer has been injured after being hit by a car in South Philly, according to media reports.

According to Philly.com, police say the incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. near the area of 27th and Sears streets.

The unidentified officer was reportedly struck by a vehicle and was bleeding from the head, suffering a leg injury as well.

6ABC reports the driver fled the scene and the vehicle police believe hit the officer was found near 22nd and Ellsworth streets.

The driver fled on foot and is described as a man in his late 20s, according to the news station.

The oficer was taken to Jefferson University Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
