Reports: Man steals running car with two kids inside, crashes in South Jersey

Suspect flipped vehicle into lawn; everyone treated for minor injuries

A man who stole a running car with two kids inside in South Jersey early Sunday morning led police on a chase before crashing, according to media reports.

NBC Philadelphia reports that the incident began around 1 a.m. when police say a woman left her vehicle on when she parked and went into Colombo Liquors on the White Horse Pike in Magnolia.

That's when a man jumped into the car and drove off with two children sitting in the backseat.

Officers tailed the suspect down the Pike into Audubon where the driver hit a woman's SUV and drove off, eventually losing control and flipping over into a yard on Merchant Street near Wyoming Avenue.

According to 6ABC, the suspect, the driver of the vehicle he hit and the two children were all taken to Cooper University Hospital for minor injuries and are all expected to be released Sunday morning.

The suspect is expected to be charged with offenses in both Audubon and Magnolia.
