Sections of Newark Airport evacuated twice Monday due to reported electrical fire

No injuries have been reported

Sections of Newark Liberty International Airport were evacuated twice Monday morning due to a reported electrical fire in the ceiling near a boiler room, ABC News reports.

The fire broke out in the Delta Airlines portion of Terminal B, causing people to have to evacuate that area of the airport twice, the report said, adding the fire was initially deemed under control but then “started back up.”

The first fire broke out at about 1 a.m. and forced about 200 people to leave the terminal, NBCNewYork.com said. The second fire was out by 4:30 a.m. By 5:15 a.m., people were allowed to re-enter the terminal.

No injuries were reported. ABC News obtained video of the scene, which showed heavy smoke, but no flames.

Travelers are being told to check with their airline for further information.
