Shire will be moving 600 jobs out of Chester County by April 1.

The Ireland-based biopharmaceutical company had announced it would be moving jobs to Lexington, Mass., from Wayne in November, but the exact numbers weren't revealed until the company filed paperwork with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry recently, the Philadelphia Business Journal reported.

"The vast majority of those jobs are being relocated to Lexington," said Shire spokesperson Gwen Fisher.

Fisher added that between 250 and 300 jobs — primarily in the supply chain group, some human resource operations, finance operations and the market access team — will remain in Wayne.
