Stone Harbor gallery will feature Dr. Seuss' secret sculptures for limited time

Creatures like the Dilemma Fish and the Kangaroo Bird are strangely cute

Ocean Galleries in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, will have sculptures from Ted Geisel, pen name Dr. Seuss, on display for a limited time.

The art is what Geisel called his "Collection of Unorthodox Taxidermy."

Many don't know that the author created Seussian animals from real animal beaks, antlers, horns, lions’ teeth, rabbit ears, turtle shells and such in the mid-1930s.

Creatures like the Dilemma Fish and the Kangaroo Bird are strangely cute. View the sculptures here.

For the first time, all 17 sculptures will be presented together in a traveling exhibition called "If I Ran the Zoo." It will be at Ocean Galleries from Friday, June 16, through Monday, June 19.

The gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and guests will have the opportunity to enjoy curatorial lectures by expert Jeff Schuffman on Saturday, June 17, from 7-10 p.m., and on Sunday, June 18, from 1-4 p.m.
