Tony Romo is going to suit up for the Dallas Mavericks

If any Eagles fans wanted to see Tony Romo in uniform one last time, they're in luck. Well, sort of.

While it may seem like the above headline came from The Onion, ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the Dallas Mavericks plan to sign the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback for their final home game Tuesday night against Denver. Yes, he's actually going to be in uniform for an NBA game:

Sources told ESPN.com that the Mavericks intend to have Romo on the bench and in uniform for their final regular-season home date against the Denver Nuggets as a means of paying tribute to the longtime former Cowboy.

With starting point guard Seth Curry ailing in recent days and officially out for the rest of the season because of a shoulder ailment, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has said on multiple occasions over the past week that the club would be looking to add "a pass-first point guard" before playing out the season's final five days.

People within the organization, sources tell ESPN, say he has been referring to Romo.

Mark Cuban likes to think outside of the box, and with the Mavericks out of the playoff picture, the successful entrepreneur has found a good way to drum up interest for what will be a meaningless regular-season finale for his team.

I just hope he realizes that if the game's outcome is decided in the final moments, the fans are going to be screaming for Romo to check in. Heck, that will probably be the case even if it's close.

I love the NBA.
