Philly police arrest, charge man in Tuesday stabbing spree

Philadelphia police have arrested and charged a man they allege went on a fatal and unprovoked stabbing spree in Philadelphia Tuesday that left one man dead and two others injured.

Ronald Stanley, 55, was arrested and charged with murder, criminal homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and related offenses, NBC10 reports.

Police say a man entered a Cricket Wireless store on the 5500 block of Baltimore Ave. at around 2 p.m. Tuesday and stabbed a 31-year-old man paying his bill in the chest.

According to police, he next climbed into the unlocked car of a 51-year-old man waiting outside the store and stabbed him in each hand, then fled and went to an area mechanic, where he stabbed and killed a 30-year-old man who watching as his car was being worked on.

The first two victims are in stable condition, reports said. The third reportedly collapsed in the street near the crime scene before succumbing to his injuries.

The identities of the three victims have not yet been released.

Police allege Stanley was in possession of the weapon when he was taken into custody. Police have not revealed a motive.
